Elect Jim Silvis for Judge: Proud to Call Westmoreland County Home.

JandFam_1Jim and Colette Silvis will celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary in May of 2017. They have three beautiful children, Charlie, (Age 2) Sam (Age 4) and Maddie (Age 6) in their Unity Township home.

JandFam_run2Jim is a native of Hempfield Township—and was a multi-sport athlete back in high school. He is an avid golfer, fitness enthusiast and basketball player, plus Jim is a distance runner who’s never met a 5K race he didn’t like.

Before staying home with the children full time, Colette worked in international logistics, and currently teaches fitness classes locally. She, like Jim, is an accomplished runner.

Whether it’s…

  • Trying to “beat last year” in race times (or in remarkable Christmas light displays at his Unity Township home)…
  • Attending church and associated events at St. Vincent Basilica Roman Catholic Church…
  • Or just working or relaxing with his extended family (Jim currently works with his dad at O’Connel & Silvis in Greensburg)

One thing’s for certain about Jim Silvis: Everything he’s ever wanted, he’s found right here at home in Westmoreland County.

From Jim

People are surprised to know that…

It’s funny now, looking back 17 years, but Jim took a lot of good-natured ribbing in law school from his friends who couldn’t understand why he wanted to ‘short-change’ his law degree by coming back to small-town Western Pennsylvania, rather than go to a big city/big firm.

But they just didn’t understand the roots he has here—from Silvis Farms way back when, to working side-by-side with his father for well over a decade in our family’s law practice.

His mom was a teacher in the Greensburg-Salem School District, his older sister lives in Penn Township, his wife teaches fitness classes here, and his family attends church only a few miles away from the church they did when he was a kid.

Some people didn’t understand the strong “pull” of Westmoreland County, and the power it has to inspire Jim to serve its people in the best ways he knows how.
